Tough choices in life

Tough choices in life

My new amazing workplace in Malmö, Sweden (the new town I am moving to) has regular “Swedish” brewed coffee.

But, if they had better coffee machinery, we might not be able to say “we need to go out for a coffee”.

My wise previous co-worker Stefan said “I refrained from buying you a king-size candy pack at the airport, since I did not want to rob you of the little hike from the screen to the kiosk. You might enjoy the break more than the candy.”

Wisdom, schmisdom. Note to self: buy candy in bulk, keep in secret storage at work.

EU asks you for a comment

Support open standards in Europe.

Go and sign the petition. I did, and wrote this 300 chars comment:

Open standards enable as many creators as possible to invent around the
standards-conforming documents and resources. EU citizens have many
to-be-invented systems in their minds — open standards speed up their
invention. Also, with readable documents to work on, these inventions are more
useful.

The end date for this “EU asks its citizens for comments” thing is July 31. It opened April 14. Summer months, when everyone’s in their hammock, doing as little as possible…

So, fire up your favorite editor, and tell them.

Lots of information about them old formats on that website, and lots of (scary) EU websites to go visit. Participate.

Carpentering handyman in Malmö area needed

Having assembled two-thirds of the A-Team that will build a hyperfunctional kitchen in our Malmö apartment, me and Luisa are now looking for a carpenter.

Luisa will be the project manager, leading and supervising the progress on-site. Kirsten will be the AutoCADing architect, and also function as technical advisor.

  1. Ideally, among the people we know there will be a carpenter, perfect for this.
  2. Second-best, among the people we know, someone’ll have had the perfect carpenter in their employ, and being able to recommend said craftsperson.
  3. Finally, someone’s relative might’ve had a good experience hiring building help, and can make a recommendation.

Do you know a good carpenter? Please, please Lazyweb, I invoke thee to help me.

Malmo Ho!

Pulling up the pegs, moving tents!

Destination: Malmo, Lojtnantsgatan 8b.

July 22 is the move day.

Very little furniture, some books, some loose junk. Mostly, it’s a social occasion, so come join us. Either on the Malmo, or the Copenhagen side.

By the way, if you happen to have a van in need of some exercise, we will be happy to be of assistance.

Get in touch with me for the finer details. It’ll be fun!
